A story of hope*

Intense: Patrice Richardson (Aida) and Devon De Bourgh (Radames) in rehearsal for Aida the Musical.

When Naparima Bowl’s extensive renovations cast uncertainty over the events scheduled to be hosted at the facility, one South-based youth group remained determined to bring its production to the stage. This month, the group’s resolve will come to fruition as the Presentation College Mixed Choir presents Aida the Musical from today to Sunday.
Originally scheduled to open in October last year, this pop-rock musical brings together a vibrant group of pupils from over 15 secondary schools.
It features an alternating cast, which includes Chelsey Merrick and Martina Magalhaes of St Joseph’s Convent, San Fernando, as Amneris; Aaron De Silva and Devon De Bourgh of Presentation College, San Fernando, as Radames; and stars Jacinta Sandiford of St Joseph’s Convent, San Fernando, and Patrice Richardson of Holy Faith Convent, Couva, in the title role.
