Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica lost for a second time and were both eliminated on the third day of the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship, last evening at the Ato Boldon Stadium.
Hosts Trinidad and Tobago gave up an early lead once again when going down 4-1 to Canada, while Haiti won 3-2 after holding off a strong second-half surge from Costa Rica.
Canada were already in control at 2-1 when T&T captain Natisha John was sent off — a questionable decision from Honduran referee Melissa Borjas Pastrana who sent off the player in the 65th minute. Not that Canada would not have won anyway.
However, John had no chance of getting out of the way and made no attempt to handle the ball when it whipped quickly off the keeper’s body and struck her hand.
