Derrick Seales is a living institution of soca music.
The veteran performer first emerged on the soca scene in the mid-80s as part of the Shandileer vocal frontline. He later established his credentials as the leader of the wildly successful Roy Cape All Stars in the 90s. It was during this time his Dr Seales moniker was born, with his cover of Lord Kitchener’s (Aldwyn Roberts) “Needle” becoming a soca cult classic.
These days Dr Seales practises his musical medicine with chutney soca crossover band Dil-e-Nadan. Together with bandleader Raymond Ramnarine and young talents Stephen Marcelle and Renuka Mahabir, forms one of the tightest vocal frontlines in the business.
