Disunity at a time of murder*


As acts of mind-boggling criminality continue to afflict various member states of Caricom—especially Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica—it’s more than time to ask what pertinent advice has been flowing to our governments from the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP).
Secondly, what is the reason preventing the Prime Minister Keith Rowley, or his Attorney General, Faris Al-Rawi, from arranging a meeting with Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar to discuss the problem of rampant murders and general criminality?
Let’s focus first on the ACCP, which was established some three decades ago with the laudable objective of, among other things, influencing the “development of laws, procedures and practices that will advance the effectiveness of policing in the Caribbean region...”
