‘Naps’ win SSCL opener*

Naparima College got their PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League Premier Division campaign off to a winnings start after overpowering newly promoted St Benedict’s College at Daren Ganga Cricket Ground in Barrackpore, yesterday.
Led by an unbeaten 75 from Kyle Roopchand, the 2015 league champions, Naparima, raced to 115 for five in reply to St Benedict’s 111 all out off 34.2 overs to secure a five-wicket win. For St Benedict’s, Mbeki Joseph and Antonio Gomez made 24 each. Bowling for Naps, Ryan Bandoo grabbed three wickets for 24 runs while Shadell Soogrim grabbed three wickets for zero runs.
The other Premier Division match yesterday featuring 2016 winners Fatima College and the other newly promoted side Signal Hill Secondary was abandoned after overnight showers left the Tobago venue waterlogged.
