Garcia, Ward take top SSFL honours*

JUDAH GARCIA was named the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) 2017 “Player of the Year” during the league’s awards ceremony at the Couva/Point Lisas Chamber of Commerce, Couva, on Friday.
The Shiva Boys Hindu College player got the nod ahead of tothers who made the top five — teammate Yohannes Richardson, Naparima Meanwhile, Ranae Ward of Bishops Anstey High School emerged ahead of her top five rivals for the schoolgirls’ “Player of the Year” award.
Naturally, Garcia and Ward, both midfielders, were also members of the 2017 male and female All-Star teams. And in the boys’ junior category, Fatima College stood head and shoulders above the rest in the North Zone, capturing the league and knockout titles in the under-13 and under-14 divisions, as well as the under-16 league crown and the under-14 and under-16 national titles.
