He can't stop being opposition leader*


SO this is T&T where, as in the proverbial case, if anything can go wrong it will, and even spectacularly so.

Keith Rowley, as we can now figure, had been longing for the Prime Minister job since the early, turn-of-the-century, “oughts”.

Then-incumbent Patrick Manning had resolved to shame, bad-name, and shove aside the most promising challenger identifiable from inside the then-ruling PNM. Soon, with Dr Rowley as in-house opposition leader, things went steadily wrong. At first politically, Mr Manning succumbed to a demand plainly expressed in chutney soca song as “Go nah!”
