Wary eyes on Trump proxies*


While thousands of us were preparing our heads last Friday afternoon, making arrangements for our giddy pre-Carnival outings, Prime Minister Keith Rowley and his Energy Minister, Franklin Khan, were on their feet in the House of Representatives, holding out hope against what could be a serious international stand-off.
The core of their optimism seemed to be that impasse between Caribbean Nitrogen Company (CNC) and National Gas Company (NGC) could be amicably resolved this week.
They both fended off questions from the Opposition benches about the intricacies of the crisis, which last week saw State-owned NGC shutting off gas supplies to CNC’s two multi-million-dollar plants on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate complex.
