Hernandez handed three-day ban*

CHAMPION apprentice Rico Hernandez, who was handed a three-day suspension last Saturday for dangerous riding, does not intend to appeal the reprimand.

He was advised against such course of action by Brian Harding, the recently-appointed tutor of the Apprentice Jockey School programme.

Hernandez, who rode favourite Vantage Point in the 1,000-metre turf event for horses rated 50-35, was found guilty of careless riding by the stewards. According to the stewards' report posted on the Arima Race Club's website, they called an enquiry under Rule 59 (9) when they observed that Keihton Natera, rider of Red Moon, was dislodged within the final 100 metres of the race.
