Will NGC return to negotiating table?*

IN the Sunday Express, in a commentary headlined ‘Will corn-stepping Gerry outlast the invisible hand,” the Caribbean Nitrogen Company (CNC) dispute with state-owned National Gas Company (NGC) over a gas contract was placed in an international context, given the fact that a minority owner of CNC—and two other ammonia plants on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate—is part of the empire of the right-wing, industrialist billionaire Koch brothers, David and Charles.
The fact that the Koch brothers have an ownership stake in three local ammonia plants that have a combined annual production capacity of 1.95 million metric tonnes was not meant to scare anybody or downplay the negotiating hand held by the NGC.
