‘Manish’ takes Pan to Japan*

veteran “crackshot” pannist: Michael “Manish” Robinson

“Pan is the gift Trinidad and Tobago gave to the world and I am proud to continue sharing this gift that my father passed on to me.”
So says veteran “crackshot” pannist Michael “Manish” Robinson, who has been living in Japan for the past 25 years.
“I started playing with Super Sonics in 1974 which was my father’s (George Robinson) single pan band, at a time when panyards and panmen still had a taboo appeal.
“My father started the band because as a child it was never pleasant to be in the panyards and he wanted to change this.
