THERE is a particular crisis that is deeply worrying to president-elect Paula Mae Weekes. High on Weekes’s agenda are the problems facing the country’s younger population, especially young men.
Something is happening to them and the incoming head of state wants the breakdown to be confronted strongly, and with a united front. In an interview with the Express on Friday, Weekes said she had, during her time as a judge, seen too many young people before the courts who came out of hellish domestic situations and too often had nowhere to go and no support system.
