Deon Lendore produced an impressive 400 metres season-opener at the Charlie Thomas Invitational, in Texas, USA, on Saturday. The Trinidad and Tobago track star stopped the clock at 45.85 seconds to grab gold in the Olympic Development men’s 400m “B” race. Another T&T athlete, Jamil James was fourth in 49.24.
Grenadian Bralon Taplin won the “A” race in a personal best 44.88 seconds, the fastest time in the world this year. Taplin is now fifth on the all-time global indoor list.
Thanks to his 45.85 clocking, Lendore is fourth on the 2018 world indoor performance list. The fast run was also a clear indicator that the 25-year-old could be back to his best this year. Lendore was sidelined by injury for most of the 2017 season.
