W Connection eliminated from Caribbean Club Championships*

Three-time CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championships winners W Connection bowed out of this year's tournament after they were drubbed 3-0 by Atletico Pantoja of the Dominican Republic in their final Group A fixture at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, on Sunday.

Needing a win to secure qualification for the final round, after Arnett Garden of Jamaica blanked Haiti's Real Hope 4-0 in the first match to grab one of the two available spots, Connection, with one point less than their opponents, failed to settle.

Pantoja should have taken the lead in the eighth minute when winger Jesus Quintereo arrived unmarked into the 18-meter box, to get on the end of a pass from Luis Espinal, but he shot over the crossbar from close range. However, 20 minutes on, Espinal made no such mistake, beating the offside trap to slot past Julani Archibald, after running on to a ball lofted over the defence by Jonathan Fana.
