The prisoner who broke through a concrete wall and wriggled through it to escape the La Brea Police Station last Friday, remains at large.
Police said the search has been extended to north Trinidad where the 34-year-old man had lived for several years.
Investigators said parts of La Brea were locked down at the weekend as officers searched for the suspect.
He was arrested last Friday on four outstanding warrants for possession of firearms and robbery offences, and placed in a holding cell. He was not yet processed.
But when officers checked on him at around 12.30pm he was nowhere to be found.
Police said the prisoner broke a toilet and used a piece of iron to break a hole through the concrete wall.
He crawled out of the hole and escaped without being noticed.
Across the road from the police station is a bushy area leading to the sea.
