Hockey men open against Czechs, Poles *

THE NATIONAL men’s indoor hockey team was edged 5-4 by Russia in its final warm-up match but that did little to dent the confidence in the T&T camp ahead of their opening match at the FIH (International Hockey Federation) World Indoor Championships against Czech Republic in Germany today. The fifth Men’s Indoor Hockey World Cup will be played at the 7,000-seat Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin. The sports stadium will host 80 international matches, with 24 games being played on each of the first two days of competition. In total, 24 teams—12 men’s 12 women’s national teams—will be taking part.
