MEMBER of Parliament for La Horquetta/Talparo Maxie Cuffie, who is being treated for a debilitating stroke at a hospital in the United States, has taken to Facebook to responded to his critics.
He says he feels born again and is on his way to recovery.
In post on Tuesday, Cuffie stated that he was "totally disgusted" by false reports on his health being shared by “that failed UNC politician”.
Cuffie said, “Despite his attempts to traumatize my family, friends, constituents and supporters, I wish to assure them that their prayers continue to be answered as I am well on my way to recovery and I am getting stronger daily”.
He said doctors were pleased with his continued progress and he should be given the all clear to return home soon.
“I am bolstered by my faith in God and the unfailing love of my family and feel born again,” he said.
The Minister of Public Administration fell ill on September 7, last year, and was taken to the St Clair Medical Centre in Port-of-Spain.
The extent of Cuffie's illness was never disclosed. Government officials described his ailment as a “medical episode”.
