THE Downtown Owners and Merchants Association (DOMA) said yesterday the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s (TTPS) announcement of having thwarted an attack on Carnival has created uncertainty ahead of the festival. It went on to call Thursday’s disclosure “vague” in nature.
DOMA said in a statement that it shared, with other citizens, the “extremely disquieting effect” of Thursday’s announcement. Further, it is asking whether there still exists a terror threat to Carnival. The TTPS on Thursday called an emergency news conference to announce that with the aid of the US Southern Command, it diverted a plan to upend Carnival with attacks on various events.
