An unplanned shut down of the Point Lisas Desalination Plant would cause disruption to water supply in parts of Central and South West Trinidad.
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) stated in a media release that the plant was shut down at 8pm on Tuesday.
The Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago – DESALCOTT which owns and operates the plant is currently engaged in assessing the extent of the problem in order to carry out the necessary repairs, the Authority stated.
The Authority will update customers further on the duration of this disruption in service as more information becomes available, it stated.

A limited truck-borne water service will be available with priority given to special homes, health care and educational institutions.
