ToolsEwart says farewellAfter ten years guiding the monetary policy of Trinidad and Tobago, Central Bank Governor Ewart Williams said farewell to his friends and colleagues during a cocktail reception held in his honour last Thursday at the Central Bank Tower, Port of Spain. Williams was honoured with tributes from members of the local financial sector, as well as from his regional counterparts, many of whom praised the governor for his affability and astuteness when advising on tough policy measures to guiding not only Trinidad and Tobago's, but sometimes Caribbean economies as well. Williams, who was appointed in 2002, demitted office on Monday. In his parting speech, he said, "I never sought this job, and had much apprehension when offered, but my ten-year stay has been a labour of love, notwithstanding the ups and downs." |
