RBC Young Leaders champion environmental issues

Brazil Secondary School, the current RBC Royal Bank Challenge Trophy winner, is set to defend the championship title against 47 other secondary schools from across the country as the annual RBC Young Leaders Programme gears up for another run this year..

Open to all form three and four pupils, the programme develops leadership skills, fosters care for the community and the environment, and promotes financial and social responsibility as a means of strengthening our society.

This year's theme, "Climate Change: Global Phenomenon, Community Solutions" will once again encourage Young Leaders to bring about positive change in the behaviours and attitudes within various communities by developing and implementing sustainable initiatives to reduce environmental footprints.

In giving advice to this year's competitors, Anna-Maria Kurbanali, RBC's regional manager, Corporate Responsibility said, "Remain on stream with your projects, stay focussed and make a consistent effort to work toward completing your projects."

Climate change is a priority for RBC and presents serious environmental, social and financial challenges to the global economy, human health and our own communities. As a driving force in its social responsibility mandate, raising climate change awareness continually brings the Bank to actively work closely with different communities across the country, region and the world in the pursuit of a greener future.

Registration is current open and interested schools are asked to contact the Young Leaders Coordinator at 684-7664.
