Air Jamaica discontinues Kingston-Miami routeAir Jamaica is pulling out of its Kingston to Miami, Florida route, two months after it returned to the gateway in the United States. Yesterday was the airline's last day in Miami. Efforts to book seats from Norman Manley International in Jamaica to the Miami International Airport (MIA) Monday night proved futile, with availability up to January 31, the Jamaica Gleaner reported. Air Jamaica, a subsidiary of State carrier Caribbean Airlines, returned to Miami on December 9 last year, almost three years after cutting the route. One of the major travel agencies in Jamaica said that passenger loads from Kingston to Miami were light, and that affected Air Jamaica, the Gleaner report said. Caribbean Airlines issued a statement yesterday regarding the flight discontinuations, saying that the company made the decision in an effort to create a more efficient schedule. "We continue to work on adjusting our product offer to ensure viability in the future," CAL said. |
