THE upcoming San Fernando Street and Food Festival will be an investment opportunity for small businesses since it will be a free advertisement to the public.
This is according to San Fernando Mayor Navi Muradali who launched the festival on Thursday at City Hall in San Fernando.
The city's first such festival will take place on November 17 and 18 and is part of the month-long celebrations for City Month.
It will take place on Cipero Street from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Muradali said persons can contact the public health department at the San Fernando City Corporation to occupy a space.
The infrastructure will be set up by the corporation. This year, San Fernando will be celebrating 167 years as a municipality and 24 years as a city.
An interfaith service and the mayor's charity dinner were held last month as part of the celebrations.
For City Day on November 18, there will be a full day of activities. Jouvert starts on Coffee Street at 4 a.m. and ends at 9 .a.m. Muradali said he wanted to merge the Food Festival with a Street Festival "to cut costs and to create lots of excitement".
There will be kaiso performances from noon to 2 p.m. on the corner of Cipero and Coffee Street, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be a parade of
Carnival bands and the day ends with "Pan on d Coffee" from 7 p.m. to midnight. Muradali said 12 steelpan groups were expected to perform.
