Leroy Browne Hilton's new GM

Leroy Browne is the new general manager of the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre, Hilton Worldwide said in a release yesterday.

The Barbados native had been acting in that capacity since August, when his predecessor, Ali Khan, retired.

Browne joined Hilton Worldwide in 2007 as director of operations at the Hilton Barbados Resort, overseeing the operations team including food and beverage, front office, housekeeping, engineering, security and recreation. During his time there, he was also responsible for ensuring compliance with brand standards, as well as driving consistency and improvement in customer service results.

"With nearly three decades of hospitality experience in Barbados, we couldn't be happier to have Leroy take the helm of Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre—one of our most historic properties in the region celebrating its 50th anniversary this year," said Danny Hughes, senior vice president, Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America for Hilton Worldwide. "Leroy has done an incredible job in Trinidad already, quickly adapting to the hotel, settling in to lead the team, and introducing himself to the local community."

Prior to joining Hilton Worldwide, Leroy formed part of the operations team at some of Barbados' most recognised resorts, leading food and beverage as well as hotel operations, and overseeing major renovation campaigns.

Browne holds a human resources management diploma from Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity, and is currently enrolled in the company's internal general manager programme to promote career growth.
