NFM workers get 8% wage increase
National Flour Mills workers have received wage increases.
Trade Minister Vasant Bharath was on hand to witness the signing of collective bargaining agreements between National Flour Mills (NFM) and the Seamen and Waterfront Workers Trade Union (SWWTU) at NFM’s compound at Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.
The negotiations dealt with the hourly rated employees for the July 2010-June 2013 bargaining periods as well as monthly rated employees for the January 2011-December 2013 bargaining period.
The settlement resulted in an eight per cent increase over a three-year period on existing salaries and wages after consolidation of cost of living allowance, the Ministry of Trade said in a statement.
The eight per cent will be allocated as three per cent in the first year, three per cent in the second year and two per cent in the third year.
