New chair at Scotia
Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Ltd and ScotiaTrust and Merchant Bank now have a new chairwoman.
On March 8 the boards of directors of Scotiabank and ScotiaTrust and Merchant Bank appointed Sylvia Chrominska to the role of chair of both boards.
Chrominska was to appointed a director of these boards on January 23.
She replaced Brian Porter at Scotiabank.
Chrominska joined Scotiabank (in Canada) in 1979 and moved through various senior positions until being appointed senior vice-president, Corporate Credit, with responsibility for Eastern Canada, Eastern United States, Europe and Japan, a statement from Scotiabank's Port of Spain head office said yesterday.
Chrominska made the move to Human Resources in 1995 when she was appointed executive vice president.
Her mandate later expanded to include public, corporate and government affairs, and she was appointed Group Head in 2008.
She recently announced her retirement from that position effective May 1.
Chrominska will also continue to serve the bank as chair of the boards of directors of The Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica Ltd and Scotia Group Jamaica Ltd.
