Persad is new CEO of Stock Exchange

The board of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange Ltd (TTSE) yesterday announced the appointment of former banker Michelle Persad as the exchange’s new chief executive officer, effective January 1.

Persad has over 23 years’ experience in the financial services sector with 15 years at the managerial and executive levels, a statement from the Stock Exchange said yesterday.

She most recently was a vice-president at the Trinidad and Tobago Unit Trust Corporation and previously spent several years at Republic Bank in various managerial positions.

“Having accumulated this level of experience in the financial services industry in areas such as investment management, merchant banking and treasury, Ms Persad is well grounded in the practices and governing legislation relative to this industry,” the statement said.

Persad is a chartered financial analyst and holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies (Upper Second Class Honours).

She replaces Wain Iton, who is now the CEO of the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission.
