RBC appoints new managing director
RBC Royal Bank (Caribbean) chief executive officer Suresh Sookoo has admitted the bank has faced challenges implementing strategic structural changes within the organisation, especially in the way customers have been affected.
“Even as we have been implementing these important changes, admittedly, not all of it has gone as smoothly or successfully as we would have hoped, negatively affecting our clients,” Sookoo said at the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association’s President’s Dinner on Wednesday night at the Hilton Trinidad, Port of Spain.
He said the company was working to adjust these changes to better suit the Trinidad and Tobago market, and in particular, he was working closely with the bank’s new leadership team.
As part of that team, Sookoo announced that as of Wednesday, Darryl White had been appointed managing director for the Trinidad and Tobago Bank.
“I will be working closely with Darryl to reclaim our pre-eminent position in this market,” Sookoo said.
White has over 22 years’ experience — 11 at the management level — working with regional and international financial institutions.
Prior to this appointment, he served as regional vice president, Corporate Banking for RBC Merchant Bank (Caribbean) Limited.
