UWI launches its second Boot Camp
After a successful run in 2012, The University of the West Indies (UWI) in partnership with the National Entrepreneurship Development Company (Nedco) and the Entrepreneurial Training Institute and Incubation Centre (ETIIC) has launched the second instalment of the Entrepreneurship Boot Camp.
This initiative, open to all recent university graduates and final-year undergraduates, gives participants an exclusive insight into the real life challenges of successful entrepreneurs, The UWI said in a statement yesterday.
It also teaches essential business plan writing skills.
The main highlights of the Boot Camp include a Final Project/Business Idea Competition where the three most innovative final projects or business ideas will be recognised and awarded; and a Business Plan Competition where the top three business plans will be selected for financial consideration of their project by Nedco.
Zidelle Daniel's business plan for a Web-based store specialising in Carnival costumes took the $50,000 first prize in last year's competition.
The plan focused on design, production and export through WorldMas.com, a website allowing visitors to construct their own costumes by selecting just what they desire.
The 2013 edition of the boot camp is scheduled for January 14-19 with the closing ceremony on February 1 at the JFK Auditorium, UWI St Augustine campus.
Participation costs $500 and interested people are invited to register by midday, January 11.
