"Being persistent is a skill that can help you to reach a goal, get what you desire and can even be a means by which you assert yourself in the face of stubborn or difficult
people. The application of persistence to any task, interaction or goal is often what distinguishes between those who are successful and those who fail in any
endeavour. Indeed, a lack of persistence or "giving up too soon" is one of the most common reasons for failure in any endeavour." (Author Unknown)
"Persistence can be a good trait
unless others start to regard you as stubborn or pushy. You can hone your persistence and make it work to your advantage. How others see you will depend on your sense of balance." (Author Unknown)
I can never reiterate enough about the importance of prayer in any and everything that we do —including and especially persisting with life. Praying gives us the strength and the courage to keep going on and on in spite of what may have happened before.
We have to be like the Everready bunny—keep on going, and going, and going forward with our dreams—never stopping until we get what we want.
Failure can never be an option—and please remember that failure is when we give up
totally. We have to get that clear in our heads and do away with the notion that if something did not work out first, second or the twentieth time, that it means we can now walk with the label 'failure' stamped on our minds and foreheads even.
The way some of us carry ourselves after we experience some difficulty or
another, we may as well wear a T-shirt with failure marked on it. And I do not mean to be harsh at all, I am just trying to let you know that you do not have to do what will make you feel even worse about yourself.
Consider how that baby gets up over and over again as they learn to walk. You were a baby once and you walked. Have you forgotten the many times that you persisted and got through? So what's happening now then?
I can tell you that I know how it feels when we focus on what's wrong instead of what's right. When we choose to do that, nothing meaningful, worthwhile or lasting gets accomplished.
You must have heard the saying 'there is more than one way to skin a cat'. So,
if in going after a goal, one way did not work, your assignment is to find another way,
and that is what you do until you can scream with sheer joy "Mission accomplished!"
And then you move on to the next goal, and the next—filling up your life with great activity.
I believe that many times we are too serious about getting great things done. We bring this heavy vibe called worrying to the table—about
if the thing that we want to do will fail, and then wonder why it did when it does. Whew!
The people who accomplish their goals in life are usually very excited about what they do, and even if things do not work out, they approach going again like it's no biggie. We must shake off all of the heavy weights that are keeping us back from persisting and attaining our heart's
desires.
Don't let any day go by without doing something that has to do with your biggest dreams. You can be like a bull dog going for the bone without offending anyone you know. The place that persistence is most needed is in your head first. And keep those plans close to your heart.
Resist the no's that you get along the way.
No is not final and it should not spell the end of the road for you. There are many roads to travel to get to your destination.
Give yourself a little reward for every step you make on the success journey. Some of us put a lot of pressure on ourselves never taking a break to breathe, and that is what takes the fun out of the journey.
You have to be your best motivator by
challenging yourself to take the necessary steps to make things happen for you. You have to make it happen. Post this somewhere you can see it everyday—"If it has to be, it's up to me!" You must persist!
"So let us walk on water because weak faith panics, growing faith prays and seasoned faith walks on water in the midst of the storms."
Much love!
