An Unforgettable Outing

...Caroni Bird Sanctuary visit for children

THE Rapidfire Kidz Foundation (RKF) last month took the children of the Islamic Home for Children, Gasparillo, and the Weslyan Childrens' Home, Freeport, to the Caroni Bird Sanctuary.

It was an evening of fun, as the children, their care-givers, RKF members, and their friends and relatives boarded a boat and sailed into the swamp.

RKF President Kevin Ratiram said numerous people contributed to making the event possible.

The PTSC provided a bus to transport the children at no cost.

Nanan's Bird Sanctuary Tours gave the group a handsome discount. Mrs. Grace Ratiram covered the cost of the tour, while attorney senior counsel Ernest Koylass paid for food, snacks and drinks for the group.

The children were excited by the the sight of snakes dangling from trees, caimans in the rivers, and the beautiful scarlet Ibis flying overhead. The tour was not just fun-filled, but educational also, as old and young learnt about the swamp, and the flora and fauna within.
