Friends of two students attending Naparima Girls’ High School are promoting a fundraiser, an After Carnival Cool Down Party at Metro Nightclub on 15th March, 2014 at 8:00pm. The fundraiser is for the students who were nominated to attend the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) to be held in Europe in June 2014.
The party is expected to feature guest artistes and advance tickets are available at Michael and Jody’s, Gulf City Mall and Valini’s Drugmart, Sutton Street at $100.00 each. The cost per student to attend the conference is estimated at $35,000.00 and includes airfare, travel and conference fees.
The Global Young Leaders Conference is sponsored by Envision, a nonpartisan, educational organisation founded in 1985 and located in Vienna, VA, just outside of Washington, D.C. Envision is dedicated to fostering and inspiring young people to achieve their full leadership potential.
The Global Young Leaders Conference is a unique leadership development programme that brings together outstanding young people from around the world to build critical leadership skills in the global context. Students have the opportunity to learn from and exchange ideas with today’s world leaders in the challenging and dynamic environments of Vienna, Prague and Budapest. Students meet with top business leaders, policy officials, lobbyists, journalists, diplomats and academicians.
Young leaders are encouraged to analyze issues, form and advocate positions, and influence sound decision-making. Students return home from GYLC with a greater understanding of their roles and responsibilities as citizens and future leaders in an international community. GYLC Scholars meet the highest criteria in academics and leadership. Students are nominated by secondary school educators and by members of the GYLC alumni association.
Students may also compete for admission based on academic record and leadership potential. The students have been nominated, received an invitation for enrollment and have been enrolled in the Global Young Leaders Conference.
