The Love Movement’s 2014 Presentation “Love Notes” opening at the Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s, on June 8, promises to be its most exciting, entertaining, exhilarating and soul stirring production in its 42-year history.
In the first half of the programme “Love Notes” will feature the children’s choir and some members of the Republic Bank Love Movement Youth Outreach Group in the internationally acclaimed Disney Stage production of The Little Mermaid, Jr.
This 60-minute musical is based on the 2008 Broadway production and 1989 animated feature film. Some of the most beautiful music ever written for a Disney musical will be heard, including the popular “Under The Sea” and “Kiss The Girl” sung by Sebastian the Crab brilliantly performed by David Isidore. The famous “Part Of Your World”, Ariel’s haunting aria will be sung by the extremely gifted Chloe Pollonais and Ursula’s dramatic Aria “Poor Unfortunate Soul” will be sung by Imanuel Francis whose performance as the evil sea witch is flawless.
It has been heart-warming to see the level of dedication and commitment from children so young, all ensuring that they perform above their best to maintain the high standards set by Disney and Music Theatre International.
The Love Movement, well known for giving its audience “much more than their money’s worth”, will again live up to its reputation. The second part of the concert will feature the Republic Bank Love Movement Youth Outreach Group and the Adult Choir as they join hearts and voices in celebration of ABBA’s 40-year anniversary. A medley of ABBA’s popular hits will have audiences dancing in their seats. Some of these will include “Thank You For The Music”, “I Have A Dream”, “Mama Mia”, “Dancing Queen”, “Waterloo” and others.
The youth will then take the stage with the song “Roar” by Katy Perry. The adult choir will then present 100 years of Broadway. This staged and nostalgic medley from many popular Broadway musicals will bring down the curtain, as the singers all join together to invite their audiences “Consider Yourself One Of Us” from the musical Oliver.
“Love Notes” will be under the expert drama direction of Dr Helmer Hilwig, with sets and costumes designed by Trinidad’s foremost designer, Brian MacFarlane for MacFarlane Design Studios, along with exciting choreography by the extremely talented Franchesca Williams-Vazzana. The technical team will include Franklin Agarrat as sound engineer, Celia Wells as lighting designer, Marlon Francois as stage manager and will feature special effects by Fire One Fireworks and Soundvision Ltd.
The Love Movement will once again present a production for the entire family, with music to thrill audiences of any age. Due to the contractual agreement with Music Theatre International and Disney and the great detail and time put in to the production there can be no “repeats”. Everyone is encouraged to purchase their tickets early to avoid being disappointed.
This will be the Love Movement’s only production for 2014.
