A night at the movies

By

American Airlines on January 12 hosted at MovieTowne, Invaders Bay, Port of Spain, the local premiere of the romantic comedy Up In The Air starring George Clooney. Why would AA be involved in premiering the film, you ask? Because the airline is featured in scenes of the movie that tells the story of a corporate hatchet who travels to various offices across the United States informing employees on a one-on-one basis that they have been downsized.

Clooney plays the lead role and his character, Ryan Bingham, eventually ends up facing the very axe he had been happily wielding when a younger woman in his department comes up with the idea of informing people that they are out of a job over the Internet rather than through Bingham. Among those invited to the premiere were corporate and longstanding clients of AA as well as business associates and hoteliers.
