Defending champs do it again

The three defending Junior Panorama winners retained their respective titles at the National Junior Panorama on Sunday. St Margaret's Boys RC topped the Primary School category playing Leroi Simmons' arrangement of "Vibes".

Taking top spot in the Secondary School category was St Francois Girls' Steel Orchestra with "Tell Dem" while Success Stars Pan Sounds won the Non-School category with "Something To Celebrate" .

Prizes were the same in each category, first place $35,000, second place $33,000, third place gets $31,000 and fourth place gets $29,000.

Thirty-seven junior steel orchestras participated in the competition which was supported by the Ministry of Education. The National Gas Company sponsored the Non-School category.

This year's event was dedicated to composer/arranger Duvonne Stewart and composer, arranger, conductor, teacher and musician Maureen Clement.
