Eight Hundred graduate from CEP in Caroni

SOME 800 participants graduated from the Community Education Programme 2014 in the Caroni District at a ceremony held on Friday August 15, 2014 at the Chaguanas North Secondary School on Helen Street in Enterprise, Chaguanas.
Ms Jacqueline Humphrey, Community Development Officer I of the Caroni District officially welcomed all graduates and specially invited guests to the ceremony.
Ms Omadaye Beesan, Training Officer of the CEP, then provided a comprehensive overview of the programme, as she challenged the graduates to use their skills to do something for themselves. She reminded them that knowledge is power, only when it is utilized.
Graduates of the Beauty Culture, Hairdressing, Garment Making and African Garment Making classes treated the audience to a fashion show, displaying the skills they acquired through participation in the programme, which started during the first week in April.
Entertainment was also provided by two members of the Shiv Shakti Dance Company, who performed a traditional East Indian dance and Mr Cleophus Charles, who did a dramatic monologue entitled “Adolphus Remonition,” a hilarious comparison between life in his generation and life today.
This was followed by the presentation of certificates to the tutors for the various classes, on behalf of the participants.
The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks and the viewing of the booths displaying the work of the graduates in several areas including:

· Cake Decorating
· Jewellery Making
· Linen and Drapery
