It's here, Carnival weekend and the feting and frolicking will not stop until midnight on Tuesday. This is the culmination of let's say roughly six weeks of partying and other activities that make this festival the greatest show on earth. This is where many want to be at this time. Remember calypsonian Explainer telling "Lorraine" that he could not take it any longer being in the freezing cold of Brooklyn when here in Trinidad there was sun, steelpan and beautiful women parading through the streets of Port of Spain? Who would want to miss that?

This morning some schools are having their Carnival shows and the soca artistes are making the time in their hectic schedules to visit a few of the schools to perform for the students before getting down to their respective gigs that will have them on the go for the next couple of days. Tonight the finals of the International Soca Monarch comes off at the Hasely Crawford National Stadium, while the kings and queeens of Carnival will compete in their finals at the Queen's Park Savannah, Port of Spain.

Tomorrow the steel orchestras square off at the Savannah in the National Panorama finals and you know people are going to be flocking to this in droves. There's also the new look Dimanche Gras with the competition elements having been eliminated. Then, what many people look forward to the most, Jouvert on Monday when the Merry Monarch begins his two-day reign. The Parade of the Bands kick off around midday on Monday continuing on Tuesday with thousands of masquraders bubbling through the streets. It all ends too quickly, but the memories last a lifetime. Enjoy, be safe and remember, everything in moderation and when it's all over, continue to live your life like you're playing mas.
