ON September 23, ZM Image Consultants transformed the Port of Spain Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency with one purpose in mind—to encourage people with natural kinky or curly hair to "accept, embrace and love their natural hair". It was a day like no other as ZM Image Consultants hosted the first ever Natural Hair Expo.

This expo was not like a typical expo where participants came and looked at different products on sale. Instead, there was a packed programme which included live hair demos, Q&A's with the featured guest—international natural hair stylist/consultant Darrius Peace—and the "big chop" done live. Peace also spoke to participants about the theme accepting, embracing, and loving natural hair. The top local suppliers of natural hair care products were also there exhibiting their range of products. These included iLori, Valrosa, Eco-Truffles, Body Beautiful and Blue Marble Goodness.

Lead consultant Zakiya Mills-Francois apologised to the audience if they had family or friends who did not register and could not be part of the event. 'The safety of our participants is very important to us so we could not take additional participants as we had already reached our maximum capacity at the venue."

Mills-Francois told participants to look out for the 2013 event as it promises to be bigger and better.

At ZM Image Consultants persons are assisted in improving their personal and professional image. This event was important as organisers wanted to show people that there are options available with haircare and hairstyling and one didn't have to have one's hair chemically treated to maintain a professional image.
