Five young men, pupils of Presentation College, San Fernando, will be representing Trinidad and Tobago in the upcoming Caribbean Secondary Schools Drama Festival 2013 in Barbados.

The teenagers - Omare Asson, Chaz Samlal, Aaron Andrews, Nicolas Dimsoy and Stephen Cadogan - would travel to Barbados on Sunday for the week-long festival.

The group was selected to represent this country, having placed first at the Secondary Schools Drama Festival in Trinidad for the past two years.

They would perform their winning piece "Life into Life" and another about Trinidad and Tobago's culture. Two members were also awarded for most outstanding and promising actors.

Asson said the group worked hard to raise funds for their trip by hosting shows in their school and other secondary schools throughout the country. "The Government assisted with two-thirds of the money and had to raise the balance," he said.

Playwright and director Winfred Williams-Asson said the boys were focused and determined. She said the play tells a story of a bandit and a confrontation in a bar. "Eventually both the patron and bandit die and they go for judgement. Then both on them go to hell because we learn that the bandit was put there because we did not have time to listen to him," she said.
