The final of the Miss La Reine Rive component of the Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition took place at the Grand Stand, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain on Saturday. The show proved to be of a very high standard and quite entertaining. The 20 participating queens representing communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago were all beautiful and radiant. The final features the young ladies wearing evening gowns designed by people from their respective communities and one could see that a lot of effort went into the creations. Designers made use of natural materials such as coconut shells and husks, seaweed, shells, seeds, crocus bags, stones, sea glass and whatever other they could make use of. There was also the use of recycled plastics, paper and wire-bending. The gowns were all beautiful and one could also see that they were functionable. The eventual winner was Anissa Ali who represented the Murti dancers of Princes Town. Ali’s evening gown titled, “Queen Irie (The Majestic Hummingbird),” also won her the award for Best Gown. Although Ali is Miss La Reine Rive 2013, all the women deserve kudos as they were all elegant and regal.
