...Point Fortin to celebrate SuperBlue at Borough Day fete

THE Borough of Point Fortin will host a Soca monarch and soca dance competition in May.

This year's theme is " Honouring SuperBlue." The event will become
a major part of the Borough Day celebrations that takes place on May 1.
Austin "SuperBlue" Lyons, this year's winner of the Soca Monarch and Road March title is originally from Point Fortin.

Yesterday, the official launch of the event took place at D Nu Pub (formerly Mas Camp) located at the corner of French Street and Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook.

Soca artistes and soca dancers will be competing for up to $100,000.00 in prizes in the contests, which are open to all national soca artistes and soca dancers.

Mega Artistes Dynamic Diverse Talent Promotions (MADD T Promotions) are the organisers for the event.
Chief executive officer of the organisation Winston Thomas said because Borough Day in Point Fortin was like a "mini Carnival," there was only one thing missing from the celebrations - a Soca Monarch competition.

He said the semi-finals will be taking place at the Festival Square in Mahaica Point Fortin on April 21 and the finals will take place at the same venue on May 1.

For the preliminary rounds, persons will be judged based on CDs and DVDs that will be submitted to judges.
