An autopsy performed on the body of German national Peter Taut yesterday has revealed that he died as a result of asphyxia due to blunt trauma, gagging, restraint and other factors.

The autopsy was performed yesterday by Dr Easlyn McDonald Burris at the Scarborough Mortuary.

Two persons identified the corpse of Taut, one of whom was German Consular official Patrick Dankou. Sources reveal that with this new information there would be a new line of questioning of the five persons from Trinidad, who remained in police custody up to late yesterday evening.

Members of the Special Anti Crime Unit of Trinidad and Tobago were up to late yesterday afternoon still processing the scene of the Bacolet home of Taut.

Taut was found in a shallow grave at the front of his Bacolet Crescent home on Sunday around 4.30 p.m.

His hands and feet were bound and gagged and a stone laid by his head. Friends of Taut told the Express that his demise came after death threats and the selling of his $2.8 million home. A few metres away from his home is the residence of the Greenes’, who were violently chopped at their Bacolet Crescent home, on August 1.
