POLICE arrested a senior Prison's officer yesterday morning with 200 grammes of marijuana as he was about to enter the Golden Grove compound in Arouca.

The arrest took place shortly before 9 a.m.

The officer who is from Maloney had been under surveillance for several weeks prior to his arrest.

Police said that the officer was also held with a cellular phone, cigarettes as well as some confidential prison documents.

Officers from the Organised Crime and Narcotics Unit (OCNU) now has the officer in their custody and up to press time last night he was still being questioned.

Police also searched his home yesterday.

If charged the officer may appear before an Arima Magistrate tomorrow.
