Keeping Fit Through the Holidays

Fitness enthusiasts who just hate going to a gym but who feel more at ease in the comfort of their living room will be happy to know that their favourite fitness programme is back with a bang with a whole heap of new exercises moves to entice you to a healhthier lifestyle.

After a hiatus, the popular Fit for Life Television Series resumes on Monday December 4th. It has been carefully timed to re-introduce fitness at the beginning of the Christmas Season and on into Carnival and beyond. The programme draws on some of the most experienced and qualified fitness professionals in Trinidad and Tobago.

'Passion' for a healthy lifestyle is at the heart of all the participants of Fit for Life and each brings his or her particular area of expertise to stimulate and inspire the viewing audience. "It is not about being slim", says producer host Judy Alcantara a graduate of Cooper's Institute of Aerobic Research, Dallas Texas, it's all about believing that no one can achieve optimum health without physical exercise, sound nutrition and spiritual well-being. It's about being the best that you can be every day of your life".

Taebo - Pilates - Outdoor Circuit Training - Yoga - Strength and Weight Training -Stretching and Flexibility will combine to make you fit and healthy.

In addition to fitness for participation, the show will focus heavily on education and information as it relates to every aspect of holistic health. In addition to Medical Doctors and Nutritionists, guests will include professionals in the area of integrative medicine. Reflexologists, Herbalists and specialists in a range of therapies will broaden our knowledge base on Fit for Life. Judy is excited to be including for the first time in Trinidad and Tobago Touch Healing Therapy for babies, a skill which aids in relaxation and bonding, in addition to its many other benefits.

'Healthy Cuisine' a new addition with Battimamzelle's Executive Chef Khalid Mohammed brings delicious healthful meals to the table. As we go forward, hair and skin care will be promoted, as Fit for Life broadens its objective to present total care from head to toe, and to focus on holistic health. In fact every facet of physical fitness will be brought to you in your homes. Every effort will be made to take advantage of the beautiful outdoors of Trinidad and Tobago as the Fit for Life sees a clean environment as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. 'Green Minute' will be one of the new in-puts focusing on the protection of our precious environment.

Fit for Life instructor Ian Levia, seen here with Judy, is an international fitness educator and Managing Director of the Trinidad and Tobago Fitness Academy.

He says "Fitness, a vital component of wellness, is like life, very dynamic and must be, if we are to be successful in any area. The understanding that we are all made differently must also direct our path towards the achievement of optimum health".

Fit for Life comes to you from Monday December 4th. on CNC from 5.30 am to 6.00 am and from 5.30 pm -6.00 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and on Saturday afternoons from 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm.
