A board game that leads players to Heaven has captured the first prize of $100,000 in the University of Trinidad and Tobago’s first Business Plan Competition.
Miguel Jagessar and Fiona Harry-Jagessar were presented with a cheque for the first prize amount on Wednesday, when the UTT held an awards ceremony at The Atrium at its O’Meara Industrial Estate Campus.
The husband-and-wife team, who live at Preysal, beat a number of competitors who came with various business ideas ranging from a folklore-themed amusement park to eco-friendly stationery in an attempt to win money which will be invested into their businesses.
Speaking with the Express after the ceremony, the Jagessars credited the idea, a board game called ’Heaven’s Gate-The Journey’, to God.
’It was my husband’s idea but it came from God,’ said Harry-Jagessar.
’He shared that vision with me and with the help of a few family members, we produced 85 copies of the game. So far, we have sold about 75.’
Jagessar was optimistic that the game would be a success and felt that its positive influence was needed in the country. Second place winners Kimberly and Crystel Gay were awarded for their idea of an intensive breeding programme for goats.
