Bank releases new CHOGM $100 notes

THE Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago has issued a special $100 note to commemorate the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) later this month.

The note, which is currently being distributed to the nation’s banks, should be in circulation by the end of the week and will remain a legal tender even after the conclusion of the meeting, according to Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Joan John.

Addressing members of the media and other stakeholders at the formal unveiling ceremony at the Central Bank yesterday, she added that there were only two changes to the front of the note, while the reverse side was completely changed to ’give you an idea of what the waterfront looks like’.

While the front side has a CHOGM logo, the reverse is in full colour, the oil rig scene has been shifted more to the right and the Twin Towers have been completely removed among other changes.

’But apart from these changes, let me just say that all other security features are the same,’ John said.
