Thousands of viewers are expected to witness the final episode of the ground-breaking reality TV series/contest, which has harnessed and groomed the talents of twelve ambitious Chutney singers: Synergy TV’s Chutney Star. Chosen by a distinguished panel of judges, in addition to a running tally of viewers-votes via text

messaging, the first-ever Synergy TV Chutney Star will be crowned this Thursday, July 31 on Synergy TV at 9.30 pm.

Six acts were selected from the initial crop and over the course of twelve weeks, they were screened and adjudged during several live performances; workshops with various artistes in the industry, visits to cultural sites and a special ’Chutney Star Riddim’ recording session. Following these evaluations, the chosen six included: Ryan Peter Estrada, Nisha Ramsook, Rick Ramoutar, Rajin Dhanraj, Ravi Boodram and O’Neil Bhajman.

Recently, the Chutney Stars faced their final challenge and their last chance to woo the judges and the crowd gathered at the Space La Nouba night club in Gulf View, San Fernando.

Hosted by ’Madman Richard’ Balgobin, the show began with a vibrant audience assembled before veteran chutney band, T&TEC Guyatones and their headline act, Anil Petite. Formerly a Chutney Star contestant himself, Petite was eliminated from the original twelve, only to be scooped up immediately by T&TEC Guyatones, becoming their newest member and lead singer.

On this final performance night, only the fans/audience members’ votes counted and their choices will contribute greatly in the final selection of the 2008 Synergy TV Chutney Star. The judges for that night were: Kavita Maharajh, Ryan Romany and Anil B, who delivered their final comments, critiques and advice to the six performers/finalists.

Rajin Dhanraj kicked things off with his song, ’Go Nah’. Taking the stage dressed as a traditional ’East Indian’ groom, complete with his devoted wife at his side, Rajin gave a very energetic traditional Chutney performance which induced frenzy in the audience. Ryan Peter Estrada was next and he sang all about his dear ’Chonkoy’, who has broken his heart and sent him mad.

’The baby of the bunch’, Ravi Babooram then kept the crowd hype with his lyrics, charm and signature dance, ’The Ravi Bounce’. Rick Ramoutar then delivered a very energetic performance of his hit, ’Pelting She Waist’ that left the crowd screaming his name and gawking at his dancers.

The sole female finalist, Nisha Ramsook represented for the ladies as she delivered her song, ’Roast up de Corn’. Ramsook was one of the last contestants to be eliminated from the initial twelve, but was fortunate to have been voted back into the competition by the masses.

Viewers are asked to tune in to Synergy TV next Thursday for the Final Episode and keep sending texts to 7827, along with the initials of the desired Chutney Star. The initials of the finalists are as follows: Ryan Peter Estrada-RE; Nisha Ramsook-NR; Rick Ramoutar-RR; Rajin Dhanraj -RD; Ravi Babooram-RB and O’Neil Bhajman-OB.

Synergy TV takes this opportunity to officially thank all the sponsors and corporate partners of this revolutionary new production, including: bmobile, Lucozade, Stag, Black and White (Scotch Whiskey), 106 FM and the Space La Nouba nightclub. Viewers are advised to stay tuned for the new season of Synergy TV’s ’Supermodel’ competition, premiering soon. For more information on Synergy TV, log on to www.synergytv.net.
