...Valley: I told you so

Former Diego Martin Central MP Ken Valley said yesterday that ’those who have ears to hear, would have heard what he said before the election (about Prime Minister Patrick Manning)’.

Valley, who was kicked out as a candidate ahead of the general election, had warned of a dictatorship.

Valley went to Rowley’s constituency office in Glencoe last night, where he joined constituents to listen to what Rowley had to say.

He had earlier told the Express: ’He (Rowley) did an excellent job at (Ministry of) Housing. And from all the reports I got, he was doing a fantastic job at the Ministry of Trade and Industry.’

Rowley had replaced Valley as Trade Minister.

Diego Martin North East MP Colm Imbert, when asked for a comment after yesterday’s sitting of Parliament, said: ’May I please leave.’

Chief Whip Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj, meanwhile, said the collapse of the Government had started. Maharaj said he had predicted that the Government would collapse in three years, but the collapse started within months.

He said he was 99.9 per cent certain that the dismissal had to do with Rowley’s ’strongly adverse’ views about the role of Calder Hart and the allegations of corruption in mega projects. (See Page 4)

Maharaj charged that the Prime Minister did not want Rowley as a candidate, but decided keep him.

’After he (Manning) got power with a reasonable number of seats, he decided to move him,’ he said.
