SEVERAL organisers of the ’Drummit 2 Summit’ are expected to accompany Michael Parris when he reappears in the Couva Magistrates’ Court today.
Parris was part of the rights action group’s rally at the St James Amphitheatre on Saturday. Riot police intervened during the rally, but the event was later allowed to continue.
Parris was arrested and charged last Thursday, after he allegedly erected placards which spoke against the Fifth Summit of the Americas, which ended yesterday.
The 24-year-old Temple Street, Balmain, Couva resident appeared before a Justice of the Peace at the Couva court on Friday. He was charged with placarding.
It was alleged that he attempted to place 40 posters on Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) poles. He was near the Preysal High School when he was held, police officers said.
Parris, who was placed on his own bond, said yesterday that some of his friends will be supporting him today.
’The organisers and those who helped put on Drummit 2 Summit may be there,’ he told the Express.
