A 15-year-old boy was among three people held by police yesterday in connection with the robbery and abduction of a 19-year-old Arima man.

Police reports indicated that around 11.30 p.m. on Saturday, Sherman Greaves was walking along Race Course Road at Carapo, Arima, when a car with three men pulled in front of him.

Greaves, a labourer, was beaten, robbed of $240 and bundled into the green Mazda 323.

The men drove to a forested area at Centeno, where Greaves was beaten again, then drove off and left the teenager in bushes near a river.

Greaves was able to reach the Arima Health Facility, where he was treated and discharged.

After his hospital visit, Greaves made a report to the Arima CID.

Sometime around 2 p.m. yesterday Arima detectives Cpl Ramdhanie and PC Ramjohn, along with Greaves, spotted the men driving along Hollis Avenue, Arima.

The suspects, aged 15 to 21, are assisting officers with investigations.

They are expected to appear before an Arima magistrate tomorrow.

In an unrelated incident, officers of the Arima CID were also able to catch a 51-year-old theft suspect at Arima.

Reports stated that 24-year-old Adrian Rattan returned to his Andrew Lane, Arima, home sometime around 7.15 a.m. yesterday and realised that some $6,000 worth of personal items were missing from his room.

The items Rattan listed as missing were his laptop computer, DVD player, toothpaste, deodorant and cash.

Rattan left his family’s home around 7.30 p.m. on Saturday while several family members were still liming at the house.

Arima CID detectives caught one of Rattan’s family friends at Broadway, Arima, with several of the stolen items in his pocket yesterday.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Arima Magistrates’ Court today charged with larceny.

Cpl Ramdhanie is continuing investigations tomorrow.
